This year, every few weeks the weekly block will be an animal or picture block. So think ahead on which fabrics you will be using.
If you want to perhaps put the blocks together in one charity or baby quilt you will have one look if the backgrounds are all the same color fabric, or you could also have mostly the same fabric for the picture but have the background be different, or of course you could go scrappy for both the background and the picture.
We'll do around 12 of these.
The first block comes from the Milk and Honey Quilts blog.
She has a PDF explaining how to make this sweet elephant block.

Oh, this is cute!!! I make lots of donation quilts, and these blocks will make a wonderful kid quilt :) I'll pull out my 1930s fabrics this evening and make my elephant.
Thanks, June!

Glad it's calling to you Jeanne! I looked at your block a day site - incredible variety of blocks and fabrics! Will be fun to see the quilts you make with the blocks.
I love this block because I LOVE ELEPHANTS! Thanks, I will definitely be making this one!
