Sickle Variation

Now its my turn to play catch-up!
I have been making the blocks in good time, but hubby took the camera on a sailing trip to Antigua.

the green party

Here I go, playing catch-up again!

First up is "Mother's Nightmare" -- I set out to do the simplified version of this but got into trouble with the side triangles... cut 2 small ones instead of 1 large one... so then there was no way to put in a solid center block... so it ended up being 4 "square in a square" components and the interesting design in the middle!
The sickle variation leaves me cold -- too many disparate parts to this block!
This Odds & Ends block was fun, and went together easily

Teeny Tiny Sickle...

Variation on a theme.

This little block will go into a maybe-quilt made for a little girl. Which little girl, I have no idea... but now I've got four of the 8" blocks, all in the same-ish colors. Two from last year, and two from this year. Now we just have to find more tiny blocks to make in the pink-green-blue combinations and a little girl to give the imaginary quilt to!

I didn't look at the directions much, but it is a pretty simple block and it went together quickly. All scraps, but I like the two chinz prints. How do you keep the photos from keystoning, and still get close enough to get any sort of detail in the picture?

Sick Variation

Sorry, but my colours sort of clash. I got back for the dentist and didn't feel too bad, so I thought I'd try this week's block. But now that I have finished it the pain is returning to my jaw and I feel kind of sick. This block looks kind of sick. I think I'll go and take a nap.

2010 - Week 6

This week's block is an 8 inch one, but I am sure it will be easy to convert it to a 12 inch block for anyone who wants to do so.
It's called, 'Sickle Variation'.
I am prescheduling this to post early on Friday morning. I hope it works. I doubt if I am going to be in any condition to post this block otherwise. I am having root canal work done in the morning. This is the final stage of it and I hope to be pain-free by the afternoon!
Happy Sewing!
