Not My Choice!
I finished this week's block! This one took me several hours - I lost track of time after the first couple of hours. I thought I was never going to get all those HSTs together. I have to agree with QP, this block definitely reminds me of the blades of a Dutch windmill too. So to express my heritage, I used a blue and white background fabric - reminiscent of Delft Blue pottery. Then I used a wild batik for the 'blades'. I wanted them to have depth. I hope I accomplished that. I like how it turned out, but I think this one will be a one-of-a-kind!

I like the contrast between the background fabric and the wild batik, very effective. Your points are spot on.
I've always hesitated to combine batiks with regular cotton, but after seeing your block, I see that it can be done and look great! Thanks for getting me out of a box.
Great idea to use the blues for the pottery link.
