When I saw this block, I shuddered, as hourglass blocks are a challenge for me. Nevertheless, I'm pleased how they turned out. In this block I made all my HTS and Hourglass blocks bigger, then trimmed to size. I think this process is worth the extra time and effort.
And, here are Weeks 1 and 2 blocks together. The spiders are multiplying!

I have decided to do the same thing and am making my oldest a graduation quilt as she is a senior in college...it is in her sorority colors.

I like your 3 colour version as well. It's interesting the different variations you can have. I think this is what I like about this whole process. We get to learn and explore different possibilities and it's all good.
