Not Too Bad
Turned out fairly square. No points suffered decapitation. I like the block but I'd go bonkers making enough for a big quilt. I'm not too crazy about that quick piece half square method. My little squares were pretty inconsistant. I had to do a lot of squaring up. But all in all, this was fun.

For some reason I could not get the picture to show. I agree with you about making a whole quilt out of this block. It was very tedious to have to do all that squaring.
yup, a little fiddly in spots -- not a block I'd make bunches of, but interesting as a single orphan. :-)
I also agree, one (well in my case two) was quite enough.
I too, could not get the photo to come up but all the others did.
I ditched her half triangle method and cut cut out enough 2 7/8" squares of both colors and made trianles and then trimmed off half...not too much squaring up after that.

I almost always cut my squares 1/8" larger, and then trim the HSTs down after they're sewn. Even if I use Thangles, I always need to trim! Must be my pressing technique...
I hardly ever read the details on the blocks at Quilters Cache. I just figure out what numbers I need to know, then I do what Floribunda described with my HSTs.
I love your block now that I can see it! Plaids and linear patterns can sometimes be tricky, but you did an amazing job!
Yes...really nice and I love the country feel to it.

No more of those quick-pieced triangles for me, either!

Great block. Your color choice gives the block a lot of life.
I really like the colors in your block. I did not follow the directions. I drew up the block and took the picture to my sewing room where I used the Nifty Notions ruler to cut my triangles. Can I say I love that ruler.
