Week 24

It's Friday! Time for another Party! This week's block is called, 'Broken Wheel'. It's a 12 inch block.
I think I have to pick a few new blocks from Quilter's Cache. The ones on my list don't turn me on, but maybe they appeal to you. Here's one for example, 'Autumn Star'. It's an 8inch block. I just can't imagine all those little pieces! But I don't want to leave blocks like this one out if anyone wants to do them. Let me know what you think. Or if anyone has any suggestions for blocks, I'm open to them.
Happy Piecing!

Hetty, I love blocks like this week's Broken Wheel because they are both simple and graphic. I know that I can whip it out in no time. I agree that I'm not a big fan of Autumn Star. It's just too busy and the final look is not worth the work. Thanks for asking. As always, I appreciate your organization of this effort. I really do look forward to seeing each Friday's offering, and hoping that I'll have time to do it. Kathie L in Allentown

Hetty,
Thanks for asking for input... I love stars! That said, I like "Autumn Star", but it doesn't look worth the effort for an 8" block. I like piecing the bigger ones better - easier on my hands and eyes!
I'm not partial to applique, but if other folks want to do applique, I could try that as well. Who knows, I may like it.

I "third" the feedback about Autumn Star -- kind of a lot of effort for a so-so block. And the 8" size is a little harder to combine -- I have lots of 9-inchers and 12-inchers to gather into quilts, but not many 8-inchers.
Broken Wheel will be a nice one to make up.

I've fallen WAY behind on the block party but I'm hoping to get re-inspired and catch up a bit. Autumn Star looks like something that needs to be in a whole quilt of the same block in order to be effective... and it does look just a bit too fussy!

I prefer the 12" blocks for my sampler this year. I do love smaller pieces, but I also enjoy sewing the quick and easy blocks, so maybe mixing it up is a way to give everyone something to try? I'm going to try the broken wheel...off to sew!
