Training Wheels, maybe?

I got this week's block finished today. Amazing, eh? Since it was a 12" block, I made it in my Red, White, and Blue color combination.

I may actually be able to finish a quilt or two using the "Block Party" blocks this year! My decision to use more controlled scrappy palettes for each of the block sizes was a good one.

I do like some of the blocks I made last year, and no doubt my piecing skills got a LOT better, but I have far too much variation in color and pattern of the fabrics. I need to spend some time thinking of good settings for wildly disparate blocks. Seems a shame to just let all those orphan blocks languish in their plastic prison!

The second block I did today is from week 17, it is a simple "Puss in the Corner". Quick and simple - took about half an hour. A few more simple 12" blocks and I'll have a quilt for July!

Way to go! Great looking blocks! I loved your line about rescuing the orphans from their plastic prison!

Atta girl, Nann! So far, I've just "looked at" this week's block :)
I know what you mean about the accumulation of disparate blocks! I'm trying reeeeal hard to wrangle these and my Block-a-Day blocks into actual quilts.

We must me on the same wavelength this week - I picked red/white/blued also. I think it's a great combination.
