Mystery Block

I made the mystery block this week but had a little trouble.
Once I sewed the triangles onto the centre square, there was 1/2" on all sides (instead of 1/4").
So then I made a larger centre square and tried again, but that made the whole block too large for the next round of triangles.
I decided to trim a 1/4" off all sides of this unit and proceeded as per the instructions.
My finished block looks okay but it's less than 12 1/2"... which means some stretching will be required when I sew it to my other sampler blocks!!

beautiful! thanks for the tip about the "floating" squares. I wonder if instead of cutting them they could be resized for the extra 1/2"...?

By how much is it too small? You will probably be able to stretch it a bit. I started to lay out some of the blocks I have made in this party. I found that I will have to deal with a lot of thick seams, so I have decided to put some sashing in between the blocks. That will take care of the seams and also allow me to add a bit if the block is not quite big enough.

Yes...this block is about 1/4" less than it should be. I think I will have to use sashing to help it all come together properly.
