the good and the bad

I'm back from my trip and finished up the last two blocks tonight. The first one I like a lot...

the second one, not so much! I wanted to use cherries again, so I converted this to a 9" size; I did the square in a square treatment for the center and flying geese on the sides, and I ripped, ripped, ripped but still didn't get the lines to match up very well. I think it would have been easier to get better results by using the original pattern directions for 16 HSTs -- but I don't know if I want to make it again!

I really like the color placement on the star block. Now I wish I had done mine that way.

Nice star block and you even used a stripe fabric. Great job.

With regards to this week's block I did the HST method since I've never done flying geese before and am not sure what is all involved with them. With HSTs they can be a bit time consuming, but any more I find that if you take the time they pretty much come out they way they should.

I love how your star feels like a a "ring of fire" floating on a darker background :-) It really pops.

Good for you trying a different way of making this week's block -- you might not be thrilled with the results, but trying and engaging in the process is the main point! :-)

Great Morning Star 2 block! Love the colours! This week's block looks good too. Interesting use of three colours.

Your fiery fabric is so cool and I think you did a great job on the fancy stripes block.
