When I saw Hetty's pretty Louisiana blocks, I immediately remembered the pinwheels from my childhood that we sometimes received at birthday parties. I was excited about trying to make some miniature pinwheels and went searching in my scraps. I found a baggie with some rectangle scraps 1 1/2' x 2 1/2" and decided to make my blocks around the measurements of these pieces.
Here is the first block:
I LOVED it so much that I dug into the rest of my scrap rectangles and my scrap bag, and made these blocks:
These 9 blocks will make a mini quilt 12". I loved sewing these blocks and could happily make a bed sized quilt from them if I had nothing else to do :) Will I stop at 9 or keep on pinwheeling?!?

Mystery Block
I made the mystery block this week but had a little trouble.
Once I sewed the triangles onto the centre square, there was 1/2" on all sides (instead of 1/4").
So then I made a larger centre square and tried again, but that made the whole block too large for the next round of triangles.
I decided to trim a 1/4" off all sides of this unit and proceeded as per the instructions.
My finished block looks okay but it's less than 12 1/2"... which means some stretching will be required when I sew it to my other sampler blocks!!

Joseph's Delight
Being inspired by Jeanne's scrappy version of Joseph's Delight, I got out the scraps from my Saturday Sampler project and sewed one up. It was fun and I really like the look of each of these blocks that have been posted. I could see myself making a whole quilt made from these scrappy blocks!!

My first Block Party post
I have finally made a block from the Friday Block Party!
I have been lurking and admiring all your lovely blocks. I sewed "Another Star" from week 3 and am happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to sewing many more blocks this year with you.
