Scrappy Catch Up

This weeks block was quick and very simple. I had to tweak it a little since I didn't have enough pink dot in my scrap bag. Last weeks block turned out very scrappy. Trying to use up bits and pieces from recent projects. I wish I would have use fabrics that read darker for the star point.

Oh well. It will look nice in another block party quilt when I get enough blocks again.

Weeks 16 and 18

Well I got week 16 done and I really like how it turned out. It was a fun block. Week 18 on the other had a little hiccup. I just drew the block out on a piece of paper and took it to the sew room. I didn't shade any areas to let me know where lights and darks or just different fabrics should go. So whooops. I still like the block. And maybe I will go back and do it with the shades of fabric in the right places. Got to find some time. If you have any extra send it my way. I always seem to be in short supply.

Party On

What does one do with all their Friday Block Party blocks? Why they throw a party of course. Here are my blocks joined in a quilty party. I have a few wall flowers. But I'm sure with time they to will find friends they are comfy with and have their own party. The picture above is more focused so you can better see the blocks. The one below is more true to color. With it being rainy I can't get good light for the picture. But at least it is not snowing. That alone may be cause for a party.

All Caught Up

Between working to get my Harvest Sky quilt done before I left to go see my parents and then being down south visiting mom and dad I have gotten a little behind on my blocks. But not anymore. First I did this one. I was glad it was easy and went together quickly. This one was not so quick but I really like this block. I will do more of these in the future.

Last but not least I did this weeks block. I enjoyed using springy, Eastery fabrics.

I'm hoping it will help bring spring. It is snowing here again today. I would really like to get a few thing planted in my garden but the weather just does not want to cooperate.

Well, now I'm ready for Friday and another fun block party!

Em's block #12

I really liked Kathie's block so I mimicked it. I like the way it looks like flowers. And after having snow all week, I wanted some flowers.

Em's blocks 10 and 11

I finally found a few spare minutes to sew. So I got started on the blocks. I was behind from last week so I did the bear paws first. The background is really a light blue but is is reading white here. I thought this was a fun block. I have always liked the bear paw. One of my first quilts was a bear paw quilt. I like it in the bright colors. Then I got started on Chimney's and Cornerstones. This one reminds me of Easter. It was quick and easy. Such a great bonus.

Em's block #9

One more block done. Yea!! This one was quick an easy. A real plus. I don't think I should have used the stripe. One because I couldn't get them all going in the right direction. Two I didn't quite have enough so I had to piece it and I lost some of the bright pink stripe. But since we are just using scraps for this project. And these two were already cut into the right size strip. They were the ones that found there way into this cute little block. I agree with quilt pixie this would make a fun quilt. Might have to add it to the list.

Em's block #8

Now that was nice. Quick and easy. Very nice after last weeks. I liked Brenda's color placement. I did a variation of that. I like Brenda's better. I couldn't get a good pic of this one. My son is taking a photography class and has been playing with the adjustment on my camera. His tech illiterate mother does not know how to put things back to their original settings. Thanks Donna for picking an easy one this week. I needed it. Also thanks for helping me improve my piecing. This is a lot of fun.

Em's block #7

Okay this block was a bugger for me. I don't like to sew a square on a square to make a triangle. I don't get a lot of success with my points matching when I do that. That is why I make my hst the way I do. I love my nifty notions rulers. I guess I could have made more of these little hst and not sewn squares in the corners of bigger squares. But I did not feel like making even more ity bity hst. So I did the sew and flip and I guess I will have to live with things not matching up just right.

And look I have it done on a Friday. Maybe you can learn from my troubles like I have learned from your in the past weeks. One thing I know I will not be making this one again.

Em's block #6

Now this is suppose to be fun, right? And we are learning, right? With that said here is my block # 6.

It is not perfect, but I had fun and I learned a little too. I like this block. And will probably find time to do it again. With a little practice I think I could get it right.

Em's block #5

Well here it is block #5. I really like this one. Though I did not get all my points to match up. I think I did the math wrong when I figured how big to make the square in the middle. That is were I had the most problems. But I didn't see the point in making all those triangles. Besides I am using scraps and it was easier to find a piece that would work for the square than for all the triangles. If you look close you will see I had to use two different blues. But I am determined to use scraps. I must make a dent in that bag.
Here are all my blocks so far. Do you realize we will have 52 blocks when we are all done. WOW!

Em's block #4

I know I'm a little late for the Friday block party. I just couldn't put away all the Valentiney reds I have been playing with. So here is my block. Fashionably late, better late than never, a day late and a dollar short; whatever you want to call it. There it is.

Em's Block #3

I went with Donna's idea of going from light to dark with different colors. I placed warm colors across from each other and cool colors across for each other, rather than do the color wheel thing. With only four colors to work with I felt skipping colors made it lose it's flow.

Block 2 Repaired

Thank you Carol for letting me know. I should know that when I haven't had enough sleep I should not be doing sewing that requires thought. I didn't even notice I had done it. But it is fixed now. And I have more of the effect I was looking for.

Em's block #2

It's not quite the way I envisioned it. I trying to create movement by the way I placed the fabric. Didn't work. Maybe if I had used colors that contrasted more. Maybe a yellow and a purple with the green and orange. Instead of the pink and blue. And changed a little where I put the x's in relation to the triangles. Who knows it's more work than I want to do to find out.

Em's fist block

I choose these colors because that is what I had out of the scrapbag at the time. I have been trying to use up scraps lately. It was fun to make and I think it turned out well. The kids really like the colors I choose.
